
Facebook have some very good features which can give your account maximum protection. So in order to give maximum protection to your Facebook account you have to use these features.
In this article we will discuss following features:

Browsing Facebook on a secure connection (https) whenever possible.
This features allows you to use secure connection whenever it’s possible, it means if the application developer has specified secure setup, you can use his application in secure environment. By using this features your information will remains encrypted while transmitting over internet. It sometimes may slow down your internet. To use this feature go to your "account settings" under "Account" tab. Click on "change" on the right of account security. Then click on check box and click on "save" button.
Receiving email alerts when new device logs into your account.
This is very handy feature as by using this feature you will get notified via e-mail or text message whenever a new device logs into your account. You can view device location based on IP address, browsers used by the device to access you account, and you can also end the activity of that device.
To activate this feature and view device associated to your account go to you "account settings" and click on "change" in "security settings" and click the check box for Send me an email and click on save button, now every time a new device logs into your account you will get notification by e-mail. At bottom of security settings you will find devices associated with your account, from where you can their activity.
Linking other accounts by using open ID.
You can link your other accounts to you Facebook account like Gmail, Myspace, Open ID etc, so that if you are already logged into your linked account you don’t have to log into Facebook by typing your password. It automatically redirects to your home page. To add linked account go to "Account settings" click on "change" on the right of "linked accounts". Select the account which you want to be linked and click on "link the account" button, you will be asked to enter your Facebook account password after clicking on continue you will be asked to enter your ID and password of your linked account.
Receiving short term password valid for 20 minutes.
This feature is only supported for US and may be some other countries too. This feature allows you to get one time password which expires after 20 minutes. This feature is very helpful when you are using facebook in public computers. To use this feature there have to be a number associated to your account and to get one time password Simply text "otp" to 32665 on your mobile phone, and you'll immediately receive a password that can be used only once and expires in 20 minutes.
